Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy is brought to us by Disney and directed by Peggy Holmes (Secret of the Wings). It is the fifth film in the Tinkerbell series and continues the tale of the fairies of Pixie Hollow, a part of Never Land and the Peter Pan world.
The ability of a fairy to fly depends upon yellow Pixie dust, which can be produced using blue Pixie dust. When Zarina (Christina Hendricks - Detachment, Mad Men), a pixie dust keeper, gets it into her head that she can create different colours of Pixie dust with different effects, she sets in motion a series of events which threaten the production of the precious dust in Pixie Hollow.
Disgraced, Zarina leaves, only to return a year later during the annual Four Seasons Festival, to put to sleep all of the attending Fairies and steal the blue Pixie dust for her own ends. Luckily Tinkerbell (Mae Whitman - Independence Day, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) and her friends realize what is happening and avoid being put to sleep themselves.
