John Lasseter gets his own star

Two-time Academy Award®-winning director John Lasseter yesterday [November 1, 2011] received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame from the The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.  In addition to his many and varied feature animation film credits, Lasseter serves as Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios and Principal Creative Advisor, Walt Disney Imagineering.


Also joining the celebration were Owen Wilson, Brad Paisley, Emily Mortimer, John Ratzenberger, Patton Oswalt, Don Rickles, Randy Newman and Cheech Marin.  Key Disney and Pixar executives in attendance included Studio Chairman Rich Ross, Studio President Alan Bergman, Production President Sean Bailey, Disney and Pixar Animation Studios President Ed Catmull, Pixar General Manager Jim Morris, among many other prestigious guests.

The ceremony for the 2,453th Star took place at 6834 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the El Capitan Theatre with Guest speaker actress Bonnie Hunt – who starred as Sally in Cars and Cars 2.

Lasseter made his feature directorial debut in 1995 with Toy Story; the first-ever-feature-length computer animated film and, since then, has gone on to direct A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2 and Cars. He returned to the driver’s seat this year, directing Cars 2.

Cars 2 is released on Disney 3D Blu-ray™, Blu-ray™ & DVD  21 November 2011
