Based on a true story?

Over the years whilst working on films you do become a little bit cynical, sorry, a great deal cynical about Hollywood recycling films to "re-imaging" them or making, yet another, one that is based on a true story so when I first saw the trailer for "Real Steel" it reminded me of two things that I just couldn't put my finger on what they were called. With the help of the internet and digging deep into my mind I came up with what the film reminded me of.

One was the classic Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots game and two, a film from the early Nineties called Robot Jox.

So I give you the trailer for Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots The Movie, sorry, Real Steel.
A gritty, white-knuckle, action ride set in the near-future where the sport of boxing has gone high-tech, ‘Real Steel’ stars Hugh Jackman as Charlie Kenton, a washed-up fighter who lost his chance at a title when 2000-pound, 8-foot-tall steel robots took over the ring. Now nothing but a small-time promoter, Charlie earns just enough money piecing together low-end bots from scrap metal to get from one underground boxing venue to the next.

When Charlie hits rock bottom, he reluctantly teams up with his estranged son Max (Dakota Goyo) to build and train a championship contender. As the stakes in the brutal, no-holds-barred arena are raised, Charlie and Max, against all odds, get one last shot at a comeback.
